Marked Urgent and Secret.

From Ministry for Foreign Affairs (No.314)

Canton.

27th July, 1927.

Sir,

44

I have the honour to inform you that the

Provincial Government is in receipt of a report from the

Tung Kun District Magistrate stating:-

"The three brigands Yun Kiu, Yun Shao-nga-kun,

Yun Po-kiu have repeatedly robbed in bands, their most

recent outrages being the kidnapping of the son of Mrs.

Tsik Cheung-shih held to ransom for a large sum, and the

wounding of the chief of a volunteer band, Yun Hin-sou.

These three brigands have absconded to

Hong Kong Hospital where they are being treated. Now

there is a Yun Hou-keung well acquainted with the facts

who can proceed to Hong Kong to assist in their arrest.

It is requested that the Governor of Hong Kong be moved

to instruct his subordinates to cooperate with Yun Hou-

keung and at once to arrest and extradite the malefactors".

From the above it will be seen that the three

persons in question have already been found to have

committed many crimes and should therefore be arrested and

brought to justice. Apart from giving Yun Hou-keung a

despatch to take to Hong Kong as evidence to facilitate

the making of the arrests I have also written this letter

to you to request you to telegraph to the Governor of

Hong Kong to instruct the Police to send detectives to go

with Yun Hou-keung to the residence of the criminals in

order to effect their arrest and extradition for the public

good.

(Sd.) Wu Ch'ao-shu

Minister for Foreign Affairs.
